Vinnytsia sugar production to increase by 15%
In Vinnytsia region, the predicted production of sugar will exceed last year's indicators by 10-15%.
Oleg Sidorov, director of Department of Agro-Industrial Development of Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration, announced this at the briefing, «Ukrinform» reported.
«According to operational data, sugar production season is currently continuing at four sugar factories in Vinnytsia region. The production season has been completed only by «Yuzepho-Mykolaiv Agroindustrial Company» LLC. The expected production of sugar will exceed last year's by 10-15%», — Sidorov said.
According to him, as of December 8, 340,000 tonnes of sugar were produced in the region, on the corresponding date last year — 277,000 tonnes of sugar.
Farmers in the region harvested almost 2.5 million tonnes of sugar beets with the average yield of 456.5 centners/ha (487.4 centners/ha in 2022). The sugar factories of the region have already processed more than 2.3 million tonnes of beets, which is 24% more than on the corresponding date last year. Sugar factories will also process certain volumes of beets grown outside the region.
The official noted that Vinnytsia region is the undisputed leader in the production of sugar beets and sugar. 22% of Ukraine's sugar beet area is concentrated in the region. This year, compared to the previous year, the sugar beet area is increased by 6,000 hectares.
