In the current production season, there are 6 sugar refineries in operation in the region. The total sugar production is projected at 309 thousand tonnes (in 2019, 331 thousand tonnes of sugar were produced in the region).

A total of 1,1 million tonnes of sugar beets were harvested with the average yield of 415,7 centners/ha — similar to the last year's level. It remains to harvest 45% of the total beet area.
