During this year's production season, six sugar refineries were operating in Vinnytsia region: Kryzhopil, Gaisin, Tomashpil, Zhdanivka (Khmelnytsk district), Illinetsky and Mykhailyn (Kozyatynsk district). The director of Department of agro-industrial development, ecology and natural resources of Vinnytsia Regional State Administration Mykola Tkachuk informed, three of them have already completed their production activities. Among them, Mikhailyn, Illinetsky and Zhdanivka sugar refineries. The local refineries took for processing 2,85 million tonnes of sugar beet, of which, as of December 24, processed 2,67 million tonnes. 355,5 thousand tonnes of sugar were produced. Although last year, sugar production in the region amounted to 394,6 thousand tonnes.

«In general, this year Ukraine harvested 280 thousand hectares of sugar beet, or 13% less than last year. Among the other regions Vinnytsia harvested the largest beet areas, or 55,4 thousand hectares — 3 thousand hectares more than last year, — says Mykola Tkachuk, — At the same time, the neighboring regions also delivered raw materials to Vinnytsia for processing. And additional raw materials will allow sugar refineries to reach good indicators and in general, to successfully complete the production season».
