Vinnytsia region harvested more than 2 mln t of sugar beets
Vinnytsia region finished sugar beet harvesting campaign. The sweet roots were harvested from the area of 43,3 thousand hectares — slightly less than in 2021 — by 6,3 thousand hectares. More than two million tonnes of roots were harvested. Last year, 2,3 million neof raw materials were collected.
The beet yield is almost the same: this year it amounts to 464,3 centners/ha, last year — 464,9 centners/ha.
Oleg Sidorov, the director of Department of agri-industrial development of regional military state administration, told about the harvesting campaign, vn.20minut.ua reported. According to him, 1,6 million tonnes of raw materials were delivered to sugar factories. Of this amount, 1,4 million tonnes were processed and 202,000 tonnes of sugar were produced (as of November 25).
All sugar factories that started the production season are working in the region.
Despite difficult conditions caused by the war, in particular, a partial shortage and a significant increase in the prices of fuel and lubricants, farmers harvested 43,3 thousand hectares of sweet beets.
As the local farmer told, during the harvesting of beets they grouped with another farmer and rented a beet harvester.
«It so happened that one farm, the owner of an imported modern beet harvester, did not sow beets this year, — says the farmer. — It turned out the other way around: we sowed beets, but we don't have a harvester. Now the beet fields are not very big. Buying a harvester is expensive and not profitable. So we found a way out of this situation and the owner of this beet harvester was also given the opportunity to make extra money».
In the current year, sugar factories in the region plan to produce approximately 350,000 tonnes of sugar, compared with 363,500 tonnes last year.
