Uzbekistan resumes sugar imports from Ukraine
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, on a formal request from the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine, Uzbekistan has gradually begun customs clearance of products of Ukrainian origin, which had previously been blocked.
According to «Ukrsugar» Association, since mid-November, sugar and other consumer goods arriving in Uzbekistan stoped to be unloaded and demolished. That is why the Association appealed to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine to resolve this situation, as Uzbekistan remains the main importer of Ukrainian sugar.
«Now we have the evidence from sugar companies and refineries that the process of customs clearance has begun and we have a hope for further "warming" of trade relations, because taking into account all the difficulties, 47% of the total sugar export volumes were delivered exactly to Uzbekistan in November», — commented the Deputy Chairman of «Ukrsugar» National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine Ruslana Butylo.
Thus, in November of the current year Ukrainian producers exported 70,5 thousand tonnes of sugar, or 21% more than in the previous month. Uzbekistan remains the main importer of Ukrainian sugar, which accounts for 47% of the total supplies. In addition, Azerbaijan and Libya have strengthened their positions, accounting for 14,5% and 7,4% respectively.
«Ukrsugar» Association expresses its gratitude to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for solving the problem of customs clearance of Ukrainian sugar in Uzbekistan.
Recall that during the first three months of 2018/2019 MY 139,9 thousand tonnes of sugar were exported.
As of December 10, 1,6 million tonnes of sugar were produced and 11,6 million tonnes of sugar beet processed. 28 sugar refineries completed production.
