Ukraine exported 463.7 kt of sugar in 2025
In the 2025 calendar year, Ukraine exported 463.7 thousand tonnes of sugar worth $222 million.
73% of the exported volume was directed to the global market, 27% — to the markets of the EU countries (in 2024 this ratio was 60/40%, respectively).
The main buyers of Ukrainian sugar in 2025 were:
- Lebanon - 15% of exports
- Bulgaria - 14%
- North Macedonia - 8%
- Libya - 7%
- Syria - 6%
- Turkey - 6%.
«In 2025, the industry maintained high export activity, despite a 38% reduction in supplies to foreign markets compared to 2024, when a historical record for sugar exports from Ukraine was set — 746 thousand tonnes.
The key factor in the decrease in export volumes was the introduction of restrictions on export of Ukrainian sugar to the European Union. As a result, in 2025 exports to the EU decreased by 59% compared to the previous year, and amounted to 123 thousand tonnes», — commented Yana Kavushevska, the Head of «Ukrsugar» Association.
