This year's sugar beet yield in Vinnytsia region is more than 500 centners/ha, which is 100 centners less than last year.

Petro Kryklyvyi, the director of «Turbiv-Agro» LLC, tells about it, «ProAgro Group» reports with reference to «Suspilne».

However, he emphasizes that prices and profits depend on sales possibility.

«In September, a kilogram of sugar cost thirty-three hryvnias, now it has fallen. If there will be no export, there will be no price for anything. We need one year to sow and five years to feed the state. Everything else is an export. If there will be exports, and there will be a price», — the agrarian explaines.

He also notes that sugar beet growing is three times more expensive than grains growing.

«If you take it per hectare: 26-28 thousand goes for grains, and more than 100 thousand — for sugar beet. This is a very expensive culture, but it is profitable», — says the director of the farm.

According to him, compared to last year, sugar beet yield in the region is 30% lower. The reason is the lack of rains.

«Everything depends on the amount of precipitation. From May to September, only 63 mm of precipitation have fallen. There is not even a monthly norm, and beets love moisture and warmth. But the current weather is favorable for harvesting. Now we are digging it day and night, twenty-four hours a day. There are two or three days of digging left», — says Petro Kryklyvyi.
