This is announced by director of the Department of Agri-Industrial Development of the region, Volodymyr Stakhiv, Ukrinform reports.

«In Ternopil region, sugar plants processed more than 782,000 tonnes of sugar beets and produced more than 109,000 tonnes of sugar. Last year at this time, sugar factories produced almost 75,649 tonnes of sugar. This can be explained by the fact that sugar season started much faster, as well as by better quality of raw materials», — Volodymyr Stakhiv said.

Today, there are four sugar factories in operation in the region — in Chortkiv, Khorostkiv, Koziv and Zbarazh. More than 2 million tonnes of sugar beets have been contracted. According to Volodymyr Stakhiv, this means that about 240,000 tonnes of sugar will be produced in the region.
