Ternopil region started sugar-refining season
Sugar-refining season has started in Ternopil region. As of September 10, farmers harvested one thousand hectares of sugar beets. In total, 26,000 ha were allocated for this culture in the region this year.
Volodymyr Stakhiv, director of the regional department of agri-industrial development, told about this during the briefing, Suspilne Ternopil reported.
«This year, farmers increased the sugar beet sowing area in the range of 1-1.5 thousand hectares. This year, weather conditions were favorable, so we expect approximately 1.5 million tonnes of root crops for processing. According to the quality of raw materials, sugar content meets the standards. We plan to produce more than 240,000 tonnes of sugar. The need for sugar is increasing, taking into account the global market. We hope that there will be no problems with sugar sales. — Volodymyr Stakhiv comments and adds that there will be four sugar factories in operation in Ternopil region. — The season started at two factories. 59,000 tonnes of raw materials have already been processed. In the near future, two more factories will launch their production lines».
