Ternopil farmers to harvest 1.1 million tonnes of sugar beets
The sugar beet harvesting is underway in Ternopil region, this year 18.3 thousand hectares have been allocated for this crop.

As reported by Volodymyr Stakhiv, director of Department of Agri-Industrial Development of Regional Military Administration, the average beet yield amounts to 62,5 t/ha, which is 40 centners higher than last year. Thanks to the good yield, farmers are going to harvest 1.1 million tonnes of sweet roots.
Four sugar factories are operating in the region. As of October 31, 863 thousand tonnes of sugar beets were processed and 120.5 thousand tonnes of sugar were produced. The region needs 40 thousand tonnes of sugar. As for the quality indicators, they are also satisfying — sugar content reaches 16.9%.
The previous two weeks of rainy weather have slowed down the progress of sugar beet harvesting campaign. Only 25% of the sown area remains to be harvested.
