Sugar exports were reduced by almost half
In February Ukrainian producers exported 40,9 thousand tonnes of sugar, which is 47% less than previous month.
«Foreign market sales weakened due to unfavorable conditions: low prices and global profit. Therefore, export supplies in comparison with January almost twice decreased. The largest shipments were delivered to Uzbekistan (24%), Great Britain (16%), Sri Lanka (12%) and Switzerland (12%)», — commented Ruslana Butylo, the head of the analytical department of «Ukrtsugar».
In September-February MY 2017/18 Ukrainre exported 290,9 thousand tonnes of sugar, which is 44% less than the previous season.
Recall that in MY 2017/18 sugar production increased by 6,5% and amounted to 2,14 million tonnes. 46 sugar refineries worked during the season. According to the Association's forecasts, this year the sugar beet grown area will be about 296 thousand hectares.
