Three leaders are closed by Georgia and Turkey, which imported 47,9 and 42,5 thousand tonnes of sugar, respectively. Significant deliveries were also made to African countries. As a result, Libya imported sugar in the amount of USD 21,4 million, Côte d'Ivoire — USD 16,2 million, Egypt — USD 15,1 million.

«Amid the fact that last marketing year it was deficit in the world, Ukraine increased sugar supplies to foreign markets. Thus, in 2016/17 MY Ukrainian producers exported a record amount of sugar — 767,3 thousand tonnes in the amount of USD 377,8 million and entered the top-10 of the global sugar exporters ranking. In addition, this year it was the significant reorientation of the markets — Ukrainian sugar was bought even by those countries that had always consumed only sugarcane», — commented Ruslana Butylo, the head of the analytical department of «Ukrsugar».

The main supplies were carried out in autumn and winter, it was determined by favorable market conditions for the specified period. For the current marketing year, according to the Association's forecasts, sugar exports will amount to roughly 500 thousand tonnes.
