The Fiji Sugar Corporation is expecting an increase in crops for the upcoming crop season.

It is reported by Fijivillage.

Speaking at a press conference after the FSC’s Board Meeting, CEO Graham Clarke said they also see sugar production to be in excess of 200,000 tonnes compared to 180,000 tonnes last year.

He says preparations for the season have already started and they are also focusing on really improving the capacity of mills.

Clarke says last year they were able to generate the delivery just under 6,000 hectares which was more than double compared to the last 10 years. He says this shows the new found confidence in the FSC.

He adds they are targeting about 8,000 hectares to be planted in lower land between the 2018-2019 planting season.
