Russia will increase sugar exports to half a million tonnes — Basov
In this agricultural year Russia can increase sugar exports to 0,5 mln t, predicts General Director of «RusAgro», Maksym Basov.
It is reported by the press-service of IKAR.
«The volume of supplies will depend on winter conditions, but Russia will export 0,5 mln t», — said Maksym Basov.
Sugar will be exported mainly to Central Asia and the Caucasus. This year the production of beet sugar in Russia will exceed 6 mln t, he predicts.
Russia's demand for sugar is estimated at 5,5-5,6 mln t per year. Last year, according to the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR), Russia exported 350 ths. t of sugar.
«RusAgro» is the third largest player in the Russian sugar market with a share of 14%. Sugar business of agroholding is represented by 10 sugar refineries. In 2016, its revenue grew by 13% — to RUB 37 billion.
In 2016 the company produced 772 ths. t of sugar, which is 1% more than in the previous year. The production of beet sugar increased by 22% — to 713 ths. t, raw-sugar — decreased by 68% — to 59 ths. t.
In total, «RusAgro» sold 866,3 ths t of sugar, which is 11% more than in 2015.
