Poltava region is one of the leaders in total sugar beet yield
Poltava is among four Ukrainian regions, which got the largest sugar beet harvest.
Roman Tovsty, the deputy chairman of Poltava Regional State Administration, reports about it on his Facebook page.
As of October 17, about 630 thousand tonnes of sugar beet were harvested in Poltava region with a yield of 354 centners/ha.
«Last year we brought up a good sugar beet harvest: farms in Poltava region, for example, harvested 80 and 90 tonnes per hectare, some sugar refineries worked overtime in order to process all the raw material into sugar», — emphasized Roman Tovsty.
Also, the deputy chairman of Poltava State Administration noted that in 2016 sugar beet area was increased, so last year's good sugar beet harvest was due to the favorable weather conditions and increased yield.
Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsk and Ternopil regions are ahead of the Poltava region.
