In the current MY 2017/18 sugar beet processing is carried out by five sugar refineries in the region. At present, 890 thousand tonnes of sugar beet are harvested in the region, while the yield of the crop reaches 36,8 t/ha.

At present, 720 thousand tonnes of sugar beet are processed and 105 thousand tonnes of sugar are produced. In general, for the current marketing year the local refineries have proven to produce "A" quota sugar in the amount of 222,5 thousand tonnes.
