Sugar beet harvsting has started at «Olgopil» agricultural farm in Vinnytsia region. Previously, the average beet yield amounted to approximately 500 centners/ha.

It is announced by Ivan Dikhtyar, the chief agronomist of «Olgopil» AF, Agro Times reports.

A few years ago, sugar beet was a strategic crop for «Olgopil» agricultural farm. The sown area occupied at least 1,000 hectares. However, due to a number of economic reasons, in particular, the drop in sugar prices, it was decided to reduce the area under sweet roots in favor of winter crops. However, they did not completely abandon the cultivation of sugar beets in the farm. Therefore, this year 85 hectares were planted with sweet roots.

«Sugar beet is the favorite crop of our director Pavlo Kalenych. Therefore, we do not ignore it, even though it is very demanding in terms of nutrition and protection. It is not for nothing that agrarians call sugar beets cultivation  difficult, — notes Ivan Dikhtyar. — Now professional equipment is working in the fields. We harvest sugar beets as carefully as possible so that after processing they give high results. After all, due to the challenges of a full-scale war in Ukraine, it is more important than ever to hold the agrarian front».

The chief agronomist is satisfied with the start of root crop harvesting campaign. He says that modern high-performance harvesters are working in the fields, and the equipment quickly transports beets to the piles.
