Odessa Port Plant stopped carbamide production
Odessa Port Plant (OPP) has stopped carbamide production on its both units. The reason is the lack of warehouse space for produced carbamide storage.
It is stated by Mykola Schurikov, the first deputy director of the OPP, on his Facebook page.
He adds that in order to reduce the selling price of products, "it is necessary to lower the price of gas". He says that "in the case of OPP, this issue concerns more government that does not create business conditions, and gas in "gas-producing" Ukraine is more expensive than in most of the European countries that import gas".
«The plant has been long operating exclusively under tolling contracts. Under the price of gas from «Naftogaz Ukrainy» the production cost of one tonn of carbamide will be far beyond $ 250, whereas today the real export price of carbamide in our region is in the area 225 dollars», — he said.
Odessa port plant is one of the largest enterprises of the chemical industry both in Ukraine and in Europe. The number of employees exceeds four thousand people. It specializes in the chemical products — ammonia and carbamide — production and trade, as well as it reloads for export products from other companies in Ukraine and Russia.
