Net profit from one hectare of sugar beets exceeds USD1,000
Currently, there is a high demand for sugar beet seeds in the market. Against the background of unprofitable grains, sugar beet is one of the most profitable crops today.
Andrii Novak, the head of the product development and agricultural service department of the sugar beet department of KWS-Ukraine, said this, Latifundist.com reports.
«The net profit from one hectare of sugar beets reaches $1,000 or more. Therefore, we can already predict that the sown areas for the next year will increase significantly. For example, those farmers who sowed 100 hectares plan to increase the beet area to 200-300 hectares. Agricultural holdings, of course, cannot increase sown areas, but they are also gradually increasing the areas under this culture», — says Andrii Novak.
And he noted that seed companies did not prepare for such a high demand in 2024 season. Therefore, if it continues to grow, there may be a seeds shortage in the market.
In addition, «Kernel» became interested in the topic of sugar beet production. Also this year, «TAS Agro» sowed 300 hectares in the Western cluster for the first time in its history and got the average yield of 60 t/ha.
