More than 90% of sugar beet are harvested

As of November 17, 8% of the sugar beet area remained unharvested.
«This year sugar beet harvesting is more lively, on the same date last year 6% less beet were harvested. 13,05 million tonnes of sugar beet are harvested, with an average yield of 452 centners/ha. In comparison with last year, the yield of sugar beet is decreased by 26 centners/ha (-5%)», — says Vasyl Dolinsky, the analyst of the commodity markets and agriculture of «Ukrsugar».
More than half of all sugar beet were harvested in Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsk, Ternopil, Poltava regions. Vinnytsia region is again the leader in terms of sugar beet growing — almost 2,5 million tonnes of beet are harvested. Khmelnytsk region harvested 1,8 million tonnes of beet and Ternopil region — 1,4 million tonnes.
The best results of yield without irrigation were obtained in Lviv, Ternopil, Khmelnytsk regions — 540-570 centners/ha. The worst results were shown in Kharkiv, Sumy, Kirovograd, Poltava regions — 350-390 centners/ha.
According to the Association's forecasts, the sugar beet output will reach 13,8-14 million tonnes.
