This season, Ternopil region plans to produce more than 200 thousand tonnes of sugar.

It is reported by the City Portal of Ternopil.

Ternopil region continues sugar beet harvesting. The raw material is processed in four sugar refineries: Kozivsky, Zbarazhsky, Khorostkovsky and Chortkivsky. The currentsugar beet area is almost eight thousand hectares larger than last year. The yield is also high. So, farmers plan to harvest 1,3 million tonnes of beet.

In general, Ukraine harvested more than half of sugar beet crop, Poltava, Khmelnytsk and Ternopil regions are the leaders. The central and northern regions suffered from low temperatures, which affected yields. But in the western regions it is possible to harvest basically 50 t/ha.

Vasyl Kychak, the deputy director of the Department of Agricultural Development of State Administration, said that Chortkiv sugar refinery plans to process about 600 thousand tonnes of sugar beet, Khorostkivsky — 500 thousand tonnes, Zbarazhsky and Kozivsky — 300 thousand tonnes. The refineries will be in operation until the end of November.

More than 200 thousand tonnes of sugar will be produced from 1,3 million tonnes of beet. The refineries will provide the needs of the inhabitants of the region and allow to export sweet product. There are no reasons for sugar prices growing, but such trends are possible, taking into account the current market factors, as well as the currency growth.
