It seems that the cultivation of sugar beet, an unusual culture for Kherson region, has quite "sweet" prospects.

It is reported by «Golos Ukrainy».

This year the agricultural company, which ventured to cultivate sugar beet in Bilozersky district, received 60 tonnes of sugar beet per hectare and sometimes even one hundred tonnes on two thousand hectares of leased lands under irrigation. And a tonn of beet - it's about 72 kg of pure sugar (the culture is processed at the refinery in neighboring Mykolaiv region — there are no sugar refineries in Kherson region). This is quite decent result, which allows to pay back the production costs and to make a profit. So next year the company plans to increase sugar beet area to ten thousand hectares minimum.
