Six sugar refineries worked in the region and processed 841 thousand tonnes of sugar beet.

Local farmers achieved a good result, but not all opportunities were used: it was planned to produce 1,2 million tonnes of sugar beet. The yield was less than last year by about 30%, due to the drought. However, there are no plans to reduce sugar beet harvested area in the region.

In 2016, six sugar refineries that worked in the region produced 160 thousand tonnes of sugar.
