Indian sugar mills diver 38% more sugar to ethanol
In India, sugar diversion to ethanol production is up 38% on this season through February 15 at 2.5 million tonnes, data from the Indian Sugar Mills Association shows.

Sugar diversion was just 1.87 million tonnes during the same period last season. Mills expect to divert 1 million more tonnes of sugar by the end of the season than they did in 2021/22, reaching 4.5 million tonnes. Oil marketing companies have already floated tenders for the ethanol equivalent of 4.2 million tonnes of sugar.
