In Poltava region sugar content is higher than normal level
Poltava region continues sugar beet harvesting, but dry weather conditions in summer and beginning of autumn have negatively affected the current yield. However, sugar content is above the norm, which allows farmers to compensate their losses.
It is reported by exo.in.ua.
In 2017 «Dobrobut» agricultural company, the main supplier of raw materials to Bilytsky sugar refinery, sowed 6,500 hectares of sugar beet. Other agricultural producers sowed another 1,2 thousand hectares of beet.
«Dobrobut» began sugar beet harvesting on September, 28. And on October 4, sugar refinery went into planned capacity. Regarding the total sugar beet yield, farmers say that it reaches 350 centners/ha, but it was expected 10 tonnes more. The lack of rainfall corrected the harvest to the lesser side. At the same time, producers say that sugar content is rather high, and the contamination is negligible.
Agrarians hope that according to the results of «sweet harvesting» sugar beet yield will be higher.
