The first physical connection of the plant's capacities to gas distribution networks and the production of biomethane in Ukraine will take place in early 2023.

It was announced by Bioenergy Association of Ukraine (UABIO) on its Facebook page.

«Gals Agro» is a member of UABIO and one of the largest players in the bioenergy market in Ukraine.

The design capacity of biogas to biomethane purification equipment is about 3 million m3 per year. This is the amount of consumption of approximately 1,500 private households.

The company grows grain and energy crops, produces sugar, meat and milk, engaged in poultry farming and horticulture. Accordingly, it has its own raw materials for biomethane production.

Currently, the Regional Gas Company (RGC) and the agricultural holding «Gals Agro» have concluded an agreement on the connection of the biomethane plant of «Gorodysche-Pustorivka Agrarian Company» LLC to the gas distribution networks.

RGC specialists together with «Gals Agro» and «Chernigivgaz», scientific and expert institutions are developing technical solutions for connecting production to gas distribution networks using the modern equipment from the leading manufacturers Pietro Fiorentini and Emerson.

At the end of 2021, the UABIO team visited two biogas plants of «Gorodysche-Pustorivka Agrarian Company», which is the part of «Gals Agro» group. At that time, the company had already decided to install biogas purification equipment for biomethane during the reconstruction.

The third reactor was built in Zhuravka, and the second and the third Jenbacher engines were installed. The total installed electrical capacity increased from 1.2 to 3.9 MW. The reconstruction involved intensification of loading of the main raw material (corn silage), optimization of the mixing process in the reactor, installation of a new biogas purification system, and change of the automation system.

The reconstruction and construction in Lynovytsia predicted that the total installed electrical capacity at the facility would increase from 2.4 to almost 7 MW.

«Gals Agro» cultivates up to 40,000 hectares of land in Kyiv, Chernigiv, Vinnytsia and Poltava regions.

Currently, «Gals Agro» is a large producer of electricity under the «green tariff». In the future, part of the produced biogas will be purified into biomethane and pumped into the gas distribution networks of Chernigiv region. They are the most extensive and have comparable operating pressure of the system with the biomethane module, which does not require the installation of additional equipment.
