China's sugar supply deficit in the 2018/19 season will fall by 12% — to 1,47 million tonnes from the previous season, as farmers are expected to boost output due to higher prices in the main growing areas.

It is reported by Reuters.

Issuing its first estimates for the 2018/19 season, the government said it expects output to increase 4,2% — to 10,68 million tonnes from 2017/18 estimated levels. Consumption will rise to 15,2 million tonnes from 15 million tonnes and imports will be unchanged at 3,2 million tonnes, it forecast.
