Brazil may boost ethanol output and cut sugar production
Brazil's center-south region may increase ethanol output in the current cane crop by 1 billion liters, compared to a previous estimate of 23,8 billion liters, as demand for the biofuel rises, according to a leading analyst.
It is reported be Reuters.
Center-south mills might cut sugar production between 500,000 and 1 million tonnes this crop as a result of higher ethanol output, Luiz Carlos Correa Carvalho, head of Canaplan consultancy, said as profit margins for the biofuel increased and in some cases are higher than those seen on sugar sales.
