«Astarta» received $20 million loan from EBRD

«Astarta-Kyiv», the largest sugar producer in Ukraine, will receive a long-term loan to finance the working capital needed for plant growing, sugar beet and soy processing.

It was announced by the leading adviser on external communications of the Bank Anton Usov, delo.ua reports.

The EBRD Board of Directors approved a loan decision at the meeting on July 18. The project is estimated at $ 242 million. According to the EBRD, funding will contribute to increased efficiency and productivity, enable the use of modern IT-solutions and farming practices, affect the establishment of stronger links with local suppliers.

Recall that in April 2018, the International Finance Corporation (International Finance Corporation) (IFC) provided «Astarta» with a long-term loan of up to $ 30 million.

According to the results of 2017, «Astarta-Kiev» received 61,84 million euros of net profit — 25,2% less than in 2016. According to the annual report, released on the Warsaw Stock Exchange last year, EBITDA decreased by 21% — to EUR 120,24 million, while consolidated revenues increased by 24,3% — to EUR 458,6 million. In 2017 the net debt of the company decreased by 10,7% — to 130,3 million euros.

In November 2017, «Astarta» purchased the Ukrainian Agrarian Insurance Company. The amount of the agreement was UAH 10,458 million (351 thousand dollars). Ukrainian Agrarian Insurance Company has been operating on the market since 1995, it is one of four insurance companies of Ukraine, which have acted as founders of the Agrarian Insurance Pool.

It has proven to be a growing, transparent company, as well as a reliable partner and supplier. Agricultural business focuses primarily on the cultivation of sugar beet, grains and oilseeds, the production of sugar and related products (molasses and granulated beet pulp). ASTARTA also has 8 sugar refineries, capacities for soybean processing (soybean processing plant) and biogas production (bio-energy project).
