«AgroVista» increased sugar beet profitability to $800 EBITDA/ha
Sugar beet will slightly decline in profitability, but in the next year or two the crop will be more profitable than sunflower.
Pavlo Fesyuk, the director of «AgroVista» holding, told about it in an interview for AgroPortal.
According to him, last year, sugar beet surprised the company the most: «We received a good yield, as well as high export demand. In sugar beet, we rose in profitability from $300 EBITDA/ha to $800 EBITDA/ha without taking into account what sugar factory earns».
At the same time, he notes that this year everything will depend on gas price and export.
Situation will largely depend on what is happening in Europe, because this is the main market for sugar sales, and on the positions of its largest global producers — Brazil and India. These countries have been reducing production for some time due to climatic conditions and low profitability.
«Given the cycles of sugar beet cultivation, 380 days is about from the moment of investment to the return, we forecast that it will take 2 years to stabilize sugar market in the European Union itself, and then it is difficult to predict, there are many unknowns», — Pavlo Fesyuk summarized.
