Talne Sugar Refinery is one of the oldest refineries in sugar industry, built in 1849. Produced sugar was exported abroad, mainly to England.

At that time, it was a small enterprise, so in the production season of 1864-1965, the refinery’s capasity was 7,200 pounds of beet processing per day. The production season lasted from 60 to 160 days depending on the beet yield. The sugar yield was 6.5-9.2%, about 11 tonnes of sugar were produced per day.

The sugar produced at the refinery was in demand of foreign countries, its production was constantly increasing. Thus, in 1866-1867, 65 thousand poods of sugar were produced, and in 1867-1868, 129.6 thousand pounds of sugar. In 1885, sugar production reached 230,430 pounds, in 1890 — 238,200 pounds.

The refinery was gradually reconstructed and sugar production increased. In 900 of the nineteenth century the refinery was reconstructed again.

During the war, the refinery produced sugar for the needs of the army. In 1919, Talne sugar refinery was in repair. In 1922, the refinery produced 140 466 pounds of sugar.

In 1925-1926, the refinery produced 104 925 centners of sugar with a daily processing capacity of 8 865 centners of beet.

During the second five-year plan, 1.5 million rubles were invested in reconstruction of the refinery.

In 1938, the production capacity was 10 308 centners of beet processing per day.

In 1938-1939, 139 892 centners of sugar were produced, 1 020 445 centners of sugar beet processed.

During the Great Patriotic War, the refinery was destroyed. Only in 1944, the refinery was restored and sugar production began.

On December 14, 1945, the refinery was awarded with the Transitional Red Flag of the Council of Ministers and the first prize of 70 thousand rubles.

In 1959-1960, after the reconstruction, the  capacity reached 2 thousand tonnes.

The largest reconstruction of the refinery was carried out in 1960-1962.

In 1966-1970, the refinery was reconstructed again. In 1970, the refinery processed beet 43 tonnes more than in 1966.

Over time, Talne sugar refinery became a large sugar enterprise with a capacity of 2,5 thousand tonnes of beet processing per day.

Since 1978, the refinery was reconstructed. The enterprise was technically reequiped in the 90 years.

On April 11, 2000, Talne sugar refinery was sold at auction. The new owner of the refinery «Promimport» transferred the CHP plant to natural gas consumption.

In 2001-2003, raw sugar processing scheme was developed, raw sugar storage warehouse and clearing department were built.

In 2005, «SEV AGRO» became the new owner of the refinery. In the same year, 13 751 tonnes of sugar were produced, in 2006 — 22 049 tonnes, in 2007 — 4,304 tonnes.

As of January 1, 2007 and January 1, 2008, the capacity was 2,750 tonnes of beet per day.

«SEV AGRO» took a loan of almost UAH 18 million, and failed to return the loan and owed UAH 1,622 million to the state, and as a result the refinery was pledged.

In March 2010, the Talne sugar refinery received a strategic investor — «Panda» LLC.

In 2013, according to sugar price policy, the sugar refinery was suspended. In 2014, the daily processing of beet at the plan of 2.5 thousand tonnes, amounted to 1 854 tonnes. Sugar production — 33 105 tonnes.

In 2015-2016, due to the crisis, the refinery was again suspended.

In 2017, 183,143 tonnes of beet were processed, 25,142 tonnes of sugar produced. The average daily capacity amounted to 2,818 tonnes of beet, daily sugar production — 387 tonnes.

In 2018, 241,022 tonnes of sugar beet were processed, 31,371 tonnes of sugar produced. The average daily capacity reached 2 678 tonnes of beet. The daily sugar production amounted to 349 tonnes.
