Selyshche Sugar Refinery is one of the oldest refineries in Cherkasy region, built in 1847.
Since the construction of the refinery its equipment was quite primitive, sugar output was 25-40 pounds of per day, beet processing was carried out manually.
In 1852, the first reconstruction of the sugar refinery was carried out.
At the moment of nationalization of the refinery, the daily beet processing capacity was 333 tonnes, daily sugar production — 41 tonnes, annual sugar output — 2 thousand tonnes, production season — 50 days.
During the Civil War sugar production decreased sharply. In 1923-1924, the refinery was reconstructed, and its capacity increased to 532 tonnes of beet processing and sugar production to 67 tonnes per day. The annual sugar output amounted to 3,021 tonnes.
In 1938, the daily processing capacity amounted to 852 tonnes of sugar beet.
During the Great Patriotic War the refinery suffered huge losses — the damage amounted to 4076 thousand rubles, but refinery did not stop.
In 1944-1950, sugar production increased from 153 tonnes to 4 786 tonnes. New reconstruction of the refinery began in 1950.
In 1962, another reconstruction was carried out at the refinery, the daily processing capacity amounted to 870 tonnes of beet.
In 1970-1990, another reconstruction was carried out at the enterprise.
In the inter-season period of 1973-1978, the refinery processed the imported raw sugar.
In 1991-1992 — new reconstruction was carried out, the daily processing capacity at the plan of 1 340 tonnes reached 1,404 tonnes, daily sugar production — 195 tonnes.
During the crisis of the 90's, Selyshche Sugar Refinery was in a state of bankruptcy.
«Panda» LLC became new investor of the refinery, and significant changes took place at the enterprise. Today, Selyshche Sugar Refinery is one of the leading enterprises with a wide raw material base, a perfect sugar production scheme, modern production, technological and energy equipment.
The largest reconstruction of the refinery took place in the repair period of 2006. The production capacity of the refinery amounted to 2 thousand tonnes of beet processing per day, 19.2 thousand tonnes of sugar were produced.
Daily beet processing capacity at the plan of 1 650 tonnes reached 1,690 tonnes, daily sugar production — 189 tonnes.
In 2007, the capacity increased to 500 tonnes of sugar per day.
On July 6, 2007, the company implemented a quality management system that corresponds with the requirements of DSTU ISO 9001-2001.
In 2007, 196 thousand tonnes of beet were processed, sugar production amounted to 22.6 thousand tonnes. Daily beet processing at the plan of 1,650 tonnes was 2 093 tonnes, daily sugar production — 242 tonnes.
In 2008, 220 902 tonnes of sugar beet were processed, 26 216 tonnes of sugar produced. The average daily capacity was 2 102 tonnes of beet. Daily sugar production — 249 tonnes.
In 2009, the average daily beet processing capacity increased from 2 102 to 2 347 tonnes.
In 2009-2010, 279,043 tonnes of beet were processed and 32,914 tonnes of sugar produced. The daily sugar production amounted to 278 tonnes — 29 tonnes more than the previous season.
During the production period of 2010, 217,087 tonnes of beet were processed and 24,420 tonnes of sugar produced. The daily sugar production amounted to 290 tonnes — 12 tonnes more than last year's level.
During the production period of 2011, 279,095 tonnes of beet were processed and 34,795 tonnes of sugar produced. The daily sugar production amounted to 320 tonnes — 30 tonnes more than last year's level.
During the production period of 2012, 363,349 tonnes of beet were processed and 46 157 tonnes of sugar produced. The production season lasted 126.5 days. The average daily processing capacity was 2 554 tonnes of beet, the average daily sugar production — 322 tonnes.
During the production period of 2013, 333,272 tonnes of beet were processed and 42.3 thousand tonnes of sugar produced. The production season lasted 125.5 days. The average daily processing capacity was 2 693 tonnes of beet, the average daily sugar production — 345 tonnes.
During the production period of 2014, 299,554 tonnes of beet were processed and 39 387 tonnes of sugar produced. The production season lasted 100 days. The average daily processing capacity was 3 026 tonnes of beet, the average daily sugar production — 398 tonnes.
During the production period of 2015, 270,885 tonnes of beet were processed and 35 458 tonnes of sugar produced. The production season lasted 90.96 days.
During the production period of 2016, 279,361 tonnes of beet were processed and 38 845 tonnes of sugar produced. The production season lasted 105 days.
During the production period of 2017, 226,936 tonnes of beet were processed and 30 970 tonnes of sugar produced. The production season lasted 80.92 days.
