According to the latest estimates of USDA, the total US sugar production forecast for 2025/26 MY has been reduced by approximately 118,000 tonnes — to 8.4 million tonnes, mainly due to production losses associated with frosts in Florida earlier this year.
In Florida, cane sugar production fell to 1.8 million tonnes from a previously expected 1.9 million tonnes. Louisiana’s cane sugar production forecast increased slightly by 167 thousand tonnes — to 2.2 million tonnes.
Beet sugar production is expected at 4.6 million tonnes, compared to a previously forecast of 4.6 million tonnes.
Sugar imports are forecast to increase by 106 thousand tonnes — to 2.0 million tonnes.
Sugar available for domestic consumption increased by 106 thousand tonnes — to 11.1 million tonnes.
Ending stocks are forecasted at 1.7 million tonnes, compared to a previously forecast of 1.8 million tonnes.
