The sugar beet processor confirmed that the Wissington factory is due to start processing on Tuesday, 29th September, with Bury St Edmunds and Newark set to follow the week after, on 6th October.
The Cantley factory will begin the campaign in November.
Earlier this month, NFU Sugar and British Sugar said they were unable to reach an agreement on the annual price and contract terms for the 2027/28 sugar beet crop.
The matter has now moved into a formal dispute-resolution process.
Dan Green, agriculture director at British Sugar, confirmed that contract pricing and terms will be determined no later than 30th October 2026.
British Sugar added that, over the summer, its factories had undergone essential maintenance to ensure they could run as efficiently as possible during the campaign.
As part of our ongoing Newark Reliability programme, the site commissioned several investments over the summer ahead of the upcoming campaign.
From demolishing the old and installing the new – the team delivered all aspects safely and on schedule.
«Work continues to install new pipework to support these investments and get ready to start the next campaign with increased reliability and sugar beet throughput», — a spokesperson for the processor said.
