According to FAS USDA, Mexico’s sugar production in the 2026/27 marketing year (Oct-Sept) is expected to rise 1% from the projected volume for 2025/26 to 5.45 million tonnes, due to seasonal rainfall in 2025/26 and continued recovery of the planted areas in 2026/27.
According to the FAS estimate, sugar consumption in Mexico will decrease by 1% — to 5.57 million tonnes due to the expected initial impact of IEPS in 2026.
Sugar imports are expected to decrease by 33% — to 33 thousand tonnes against the backdrop of tariff increases and an increase in projected production. Total exports are estimated to increase to 1.12 million tonnes from 1.1 million tonnes in the 2025/26.
