Sugar beet yields in Western Ukraine have already approached European levels — Kavushevska

Sugar beet yields in western regions of Ukraisne in 2025 have approached European level. In particular, in Volyn Oblast, yields reached 77 t/ha, in Lviv — 75 t/ha, and in Ternopil — 73 t/ha, corresponding to EU standards. This was reported by the Chair of  “Ukrtsukor,” Yana Kavushevska, during Sugar World 2026, according to Latifundist.com.

For comparison, the average sugar beet yield in the European Union is about 69 t/ha, in Poland — 72 t/ha, and in Germany — 79 t/ha.

Overall, the average sugar beet yield in Ukraine in 2025 reached 58 t/ha, setting a record for the country. The average sugar content also remained high at 17.6%, Kavushevska noted.

High yields were also recorded in Khmelnytskyi Oblast — 65 t/ha, Rivne — 63 t/ha, Zhytomyr and Kyiv — 55 t/ha each, and Vinnytsia — 53 t/ha. Meanwhile, in Poltava and Chernihiv Oblasts, yields were 45 t/ha, while the lowest figures were in Cherkasy and Kirovohrad Oblasts — 39 t/ha each.

Poltava Oblast led in sugar content with 18.1%, while the national average was 17.6%. The sugar extraction rate reached 15.17%, exceeding the level of the previous year.
