Due to numerous inquiries from media representatives and market participants, the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (Ukrsugar) issues the following statement:
- According to information obtained directly by Ukrsugar from sugar factories that will process sugar beet during the 2026 campaign, the total area planted with sugar beet in Ukraine this year amounts to 162 thousand hectares.
- This figure may be revised downward prior to harvesting, as part of the crop was lost due to dust storms that occurred in May and June.
- Ukrsugar is not able to verify the accuracy of the sugar beet planting area data published by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, according to which the total area amounts to 185.6–197.2 thousand hectares.
- In the Association’s view, the Ministry’s figures require additional verification. A discrepancy of more than 20 thousand hectares is significant for a crop cultivated by a relatively limited number of producers. We consider it unlikely that such an area could have remained outside the awareness of sugar processing companies.
The National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (Ukrsugar) continuously monitors developments in the sector and will continue to keep market participants and the public informed based on data received directly from its member companies.
