On February 1, 2026, the 2025 sugar production season concluded in Ukraine. The 26 factories that are members of the Ukrsugar Association produced 1.64 million tonnes of sugar.
Including one additional factory that is not a member of the association, the total national production reached 1.72 million tonnes.
Despite a reduction in sugar beet planting area by 50 thousand hectares (–23% compared to last year), sugar production decreased by only 4%, or 80 thousand tonnes.
“This is primarily explained by the increase in sugar beet yields to a historically record level for the industry of 58 t/ha, improvement in its technological characteristics—particularly the sugar content, which this year reached 17.6%—as well as operational improvements at the sugar factories. All these factors offset the impact of the reduced sowing area,” said Yana Kavushevska, Chair of the Association.
“The average sugar extraction rate across the industry this year was 15.17%, almost 1% higher than the same indicator in 2024.”
